So a few days later I met Isabelle and Andreas in their apartment in Brühl which has a direct view across the botanical garden and the beautiful Augustusburg Palace, a really nice wedding location itself. But since both are from Switzerland and moved to Brühl only recently, the wedding was going to be in Basel.

After getting ready in the Radison Blu they had a small civil ceremony in the historic Zivilstandsamt directly at the Rhine river. After the family and group photos we started our couple photos just as it started to rain. Luckily the nearby cathedral provided shelter and a good photo location. After that we drove to several locations in Basel, including the Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois. In its restaurant Isabelle and Andreas had their first date!

After I took photos for my daughter’s Kindergarten, Isabelle, one of the teachers, approached me and asked me if I would photograph weddings, too. Well, actually photographing weddings is what I do and it was only the first time I photographed in a Kindergarten 😀

In the late afternoon they received their guests for the religious ceremony in the Noohn Restaurant. What was initially planned to happen on the rooftop had to be improvised inside the spacious but dark restaurant du to the rain. This way the guests afterwards only had to move around the corner to their dinner tables. I was invited to stay for dinner but could not keep my finger from the trigger. I left after they cut the cake, which by the way is one of my favorite Wedding Cakes ever!
