This amazing three day La Romana Destination Wedding was the first time for me to visit the Dominican Republic. I had shot weddings in the Caribbean before but La Romana and above all Casa de Campo is a special place.

The wedding venue was an enormous and beautiful private residence in the Luxury Condominium Casa de Campo. I stayed in a room of the very same house which made logistics a lot easier.

Welcome Cocktail and Beach Party

After my arrival on thursday I immediately got ready for the welcome cocktail at the Peperoni Restaurant in the Marina Yacht Club. Many guests had already arrived because they wanted to spend the whole weekend with the Bride and Groom, Christine and Emilio.

For the next day they had chartered two big catamarans to take everyone to a private beach on Santa Catalina Island to relax. After a few beers and Piña Coladas the trip turned into a fun beach party, of course. While everyone had fun I took Christine and Emilia aside for a few minutes to take some quick couple photos. The catamarans took everyone back in the late afternoon to safe energy for the actual wedding.

The Wedding Day

Finally, on saturday the big day arrived. Christine was getting ready in a room of the wedding venue in Casa de Campo. Emilio got ready in the Casa de Campo Resort. The ceremony was scheduled just before sunset in the famous Saint Stanislaus Church in Altos de Chavon. Michael Jackson and other Celebrities got married here before. From elevated location you can overview most of La Romana. Altos de Chavon is a recreation of mediterranean European village and sets an amazing backdrop you would not expect for a La Romana destination wedding in the Caribbean. We took the family and couple photos in Altos de Chavon before driving back to the venue. After Christine and Emilio’s Wedding Dance the party started at full speed. Everyone had a lot of fun and even more so once the Orchestra and Sergio Vargas started playing and entertaining the crowd. The party went on until the early morning hours. Die Reise zu dieser geilen dreitägigen La Romana Destination Wedding war für mich das erste mal in der Dominikanischen Republik. Ich hatte bereits Hochzeiten in der Karibik aber La Romana und vor Allem Casa de Campo ist ein sehr spezieller Ort.

Die Location für die Hochzeitsfeier war eine riesiges privates Anwesen im Luxuscondo Casa de Campo. Ich kam in einem Schlafzimmer der gleichen Villa unter, was die Arbeit und Logistik sehr vereinfachte.

Wilkommenscocktail und Beachparty

Nach meiner Ankunft am Donnerstag ging es für mich quasi direkt zum Wilkommenscoktail im Peperoni Restaurant am Marina Yacht Club. Vielle Gäste waren bereits angekommen, da sie das gesamte lange Wochenende mit Braut und Bräutigam, Christine und Emilio, verbringen wollten.

Für den darauffolgenden Tag hatten sie zwei grosse Katamarane gechartert, um mit allen Gästen zu einem Privatstrand auf der Insel Santa Catalina überzusetzen und dort zu relaxen. Nach ein paar Bier und Piña Colada entwickelte sich aus dem trip eine Beachparty. Während alle ihren Spass hatten entführte ich Christine und Emilio kurz zu ein paar schnellen Pärchenfotos am Strand. Am späten Nachmittag brachten die Katmarane die Hochzeitsgesellschft wieder auf Festland um genug Energie für den eigentlichen Hochzeitstag zu sparen.

Der Hochzeitstag

Am Samstag war dann der grosse Tag gekommen. Christine bekam ihr Makeup und Haar im geräumigen Gästehaus der Villa in Casa de Campo gemacht. Emilio machte sich in einer Suite des Casa de Campo Resort fertig. Die Trauung in der berühmten Saint Stanislaus Kirche in Altos de Chavon war für kurz vor Sonnenuntergang in angesetzt. Michael Jackson und andere Berühmtheiten haben hier bereits geheiratet. Altos de Chavon ist einem mediterranen europäischen Dorf nachempfunden und bietet eine Szenerie, die man nicht erwarten würde bei einer La Romana Destination Wedding in der Karibik.

Nach der sehr emotionalen Trauung bei der auch mehrere Freunde vorsprachen blieben wir noch vor Ort für Familien- und Brautpaarfotos. Die atemberaubende aussieht konnte man nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit nun leider nicht mehr nutzen. An der Hochzeitsfeier angekommen, absolvierten Christine und Emilio ihren Hochzeitstanz und schon war die Party im Gange. Die Gäste tanzten ausgiebig und amüsierten sich erst recht, als Sergio Vargas mit Orchester auf die Bühne kam und für noch mehr Stimmung sorgte. So ging es bis in die frühen Morgenstunden.
