Megan and Larry booked me first for their wedding in La Romana after they stumbled across wedding photos I had taken there. But after a serious of tourist deaths in the Dominican Republic they opted for a Jamaica Destination Wedding at the Ochi Sandals Resort. They asked me if I was OK with the change of location and if I’d still shoot the wedding in Jamaica. Of course I would! So they rebooked my flight, checked me 3 nights into the amazing Ochi Sandals Resort in Ocho Rios and we were all set.

On Thurday they had planned a welcome/rehearsal dinner and for Friday some beach activities. Due to bad weather in Miami bride and groom arrived late in the evening on Thursday and had to change plans a bit. Friday was now dedicated to last minute wedding planning and an all white dresscode rehearsal dinner was scheduled in the evening.

On Saturday morning we decided to have a quick couple photo session on the hotel property so they could practice a bit and relax in front of the camera. The sun was already very harsh and the temperatures very high so we tried to stay in the shade of the lush vegetation that is typical of this part of Jamaica.

A couple of yours later Megan and Larry were getting ready with their bridesmaids and best men. They were not only in 2 different rooms but also in 2 different buildings which had me running through the Caribbean heat with all my gear quite a few times almost turning it into a wet t-shirt contest. When we finally had everyone ready for formal photos, and the photos taken we were already running late for the ceremony. The 1h ceremony in the over water chapel was quickly transformed into a 15 minute ceremony to get back to schedule. That was new to me. Usually that is what happens to the bride and groom photo session 😀

So we had enough time for all photos while the guests attended the cocktail on the peer next to the chapel. After sunset everybody took a bus to another part of the hotel property where the dinner, reception and dance floor were set up.
