Last year I photographed this vintage inspired German Turkish Wedding of Nilgün and Michael near Stuttgart.  Nilgün is the daughter of a very modern turkish family in Germany. She and Michael are both young Doctors and met each other when they where studying medicine. When I talked to Nilgün on the phone before the wedding she seemed nervous and worried about a lot of details but when I met her on the wedding day all that was gone and she seemed prepared to simply enjoy her wedding.

They decorated their wedding full of light blue details and had rented a beautiful sky blue Mustang from 1967 as their wedding car (may they just booked me for my logo color?). Around noon we drove into a crop field where Michael was already waiting to see his bride for the first time. I am a fan of such set up first views as the bride and groom can enjoy that emotional moment so much more than they can the traditional way in front of the altar – all eyes on them and a schedule to follow. Right there and then we also had planned the couple photos. Alltough I was worried about the harsh sunlight during midday everything worked out great. Some clouds provided soft light and then the direct sunlight gave us options for different looks. As allways I tried to keep things flowing, hardly posing bride and groom and the best photos in the end were the one you could consider outtakes. The moment the lowered their guard or didn’t expect me to take the photo 🙂

From there we went to the free ceremony in Nilgün’s parents garden that was held by a friend of the family. This way the speech was much more personal, emotional and tear provoking not just for bride and groom. They exchanged their rings they had made in Turkey. The wedding dress was tailored by the bride’s mother by the way and most of the decoration and details for do it yourself. Actually you also call this a DIY Wedding.

After some coffee, champaign and snacks everyone drove over to the reception in a beautiful event location and wine dealer Vinoteck that fitted perfectly for their wedding with vintage wallpaper, beautifully decorated tables and amazing food. The turkish band who accompanied the ceremony also played the dance music later on.
